Brian Jensen, the 40 year old Stags goalkeeper, tonight became the oldest ever player to pull on a Mansfield Town shirt in a Football League game and he marked the occasion with a calm and assured performance that inspired confidence in those around him.
Tony Ford (39 years old), who was serving the club as assistant player manager during Steve Parkin's reign in the hot seat, held the previous record.
What an awesome way to spend a Friday night.
If the travelling Stags support could create that kind of atmosphere at home games, Field Mill would become a fortress.
Adam Murray's game plan worked perfectly and regardless of the what Notts County's Blair Adams said about this being a 'smash and grab raid', the team (and the fans) who were up for it and wanted it more, got what they deserved.
Putting out a reserve side at Hillsborough a few nights ago was completely justified by tonight's result.
County were beaten fairly and squarely, bot on the pitch and off it, we know it, they know it, so I hereby offer a hearty round of applause to those from the city side of the Trent who were magnanimous enough to concur with that view.

While County will obviously always be local rivals to the Stags and that other team who play just across the river and as such these games are important as regards the bragging rights, neither Mansfield or Forest fans regard County as bitter enemy rivals, those feelings are reserved for certain other teams who play on the opposite side of the great divide, that is the Derbyshire border.
Chris Clements scored the opening goal, when Matt Green set him up and he put the ball past Roy Carroll from ten yards out on 36 minutes. Ryan Tafazolli scored the second goal to finish County off with ten minutes left on the clock, when he towered above the home side's defence to power home a header from a Marvind Benning free kick. The home side's goalie Roy Carroll moaned and groaned like a spoilt big baby and bad loser all night. If you can't take it, don't dish it out!
I have no axe to grind with any County fans, I know quite a lot of them and enjoy socialising in Nottingham, so I will dedicate this triumphant blog post and a hearty two fingered gesture to the mardy arsed Magpies keeper instead.
