These two sides last met back in November, when Teversal Reserves of the CMFL Premier Division South, visited Kirton Brickworks who play in Division One of the Nottinghamshire Senior League, and beat their hosts 0-4 in a Notts Senior Trophy First Round tie.
This afternoon, had it not been for Leon Turton's well taken late consolation goal, then the tables would've been turned completely, which will doubtless have given Kirton a massive morale boost as they prepare for the season ahead, even after taking into consideration that this was a bit of a mix and match Tevie squad that they ran out as comfortable winners against today.
With an official address of Station Road, the Forterra works site stands just off of Cocking Hill, adjacent to the railway line between Tuxford and Ollerton, that used to serve the now defunct High Marnham power station.Eleven miles due south from the sprawling metropolis of East Retford, the first entrance to the Brickworks is on your left as you approach under the railway bridge from the A6075 Kirton to Ollerton road, the second one takes you into the car park beyond the clay based football pitch... well, what other kind of soil composition would you expect there to be at a brick manufacturing works?
The only goal of a lively first half was scored by the highly-rated Kirton front-man Jack March, who crashed the ball into the Tevie net from the edge of the area, via the underside of the crossbar, in the twenty-fifth minute.

During half-time, as one of several rain showers briefly descended on the scene, we took refuge in the spacious tea bar (which I think doubles up as the Brickworks mess room and canteen during the week), where you can have a sit down and even watch the game through the windows facing the pitch should the weather necessitate such a thing. Thankfully it didn't.
Cheers for the coffee John, it'll be my round next time ;-)
Five minutes after the break, the same player doubled both his and the Brickies goal count, after making himself a yard of space and netting with a shot on the turn just inside the goal area.
Shortly afterwards, Kirton added a third, following some good work through the right channel, March squared the ball to Kieron Johnson who added the finishing touch from six yards out.
The final outcome was never likely to be in any doubt when Leon Cooper stabbed an angled shot just inside the left hand upright from twelve yards out.
Despite the top heavy final score line in the hosts favour, which they had thoroughly deserved, Teversal had still managed to carve out a few decent openings throughout the afternoon too... and late in the day they salvaged a late goal through the aforementioned Leon Turton.
FT: Kirton Brickworks 4 v Teversal 1
It had been good to see a few familiar faces involved with both teams and amongst the modest attendance who'd turned out to watch the game too. Akk in all a most enjoyable afternoon was had by all and I'd recommended that you get along to check out this hidden gem of an outpost and the very friendly home club on your travels too.
