Both teams mutually agreed, given that there were several trialists on display in either line up, that they wouldn't be issuing team sheet and announcing player names tonight.
And like it or not, that is their prerogative and I will respect their wishes accordingly to that end, in spite of knowing full well who most of the Handsworth team were anyway and the identities of several of the young Blades.
All told it was a decent game with both teams committed to playing an attacking style, with the Ambers possibly having slightly the better of things.
One of the players for one of the teams rattled the bar after three minutes, but Im not saying who it was because we can all play those games ;-)
A prolific goalscorer for both Rainworth MW and Handsworth Parramore last season, almost opened the scoring, but a Blades player in a lime green kit with a number one on his back saved with his feet.
A trialist wearing the captain's armband, nudged in the opening goal, that just about trickled over the line off the post (they all count) and in spite of a lot of effort both ways, in an end to end encounter, when the half time whistle came it was still one nil to the home side.
HT: 1-0
A guy with a beard that I have never seen before in my life, crossed the ball to another bearded stranger, who crashed the ball against the woodwork, as Parramore almost doubled their lead.
While at the other end, a Northern Ireland U19 international cued the ball up for one of his teammates to score, in spite of the best efforts of the home side's diminutive keeper to get his hand to the ball.
A big, shaven headed centre half, who scored a lot of goals for Handsworth when he got up for set pieces last season, netted via the crossbar, but his effort was disallowed by persons unknown... and a lively and entertaining game ended all square.
FT: 1-1
And doesn't Jasper look happy to be here.
