Not one for the purists if truth be told, as these two Derbyshire sides played out a very tight and nervy 90+ minutes in front of a shirt sleeved crowd, at a packed Christchurch Meadow. Whereby the respective game plans that both teams adopted for this 'winner takes all' game, saw them more intent on not giving anything away, rather than taking any risks with an attacking and cavalier approach.
But, you couldn't blame either manager for that, given that a whole season's worth of hard work and endeavour was to be decided on the outcome of just one final 'make or break' fixture, with promotion to the NPL Premier Division up for grabs to today's winning team.
You also have to take into account, that on a gloriously hot afternoon, it has been a long season for both teams and as they lined up for one last time, they were understandably knackered
It was still an intriguing game, albeit bereft of a few thrills and spills to relieve the tension every once in a while.
