Note, some of the Parkgate players were not wearing the numbers they had been allocated on the team sheet, so thanks, yet again, to that nice and ever so efficient Mr Parnill for clarifying the details.
Ollerton gave a fairly decent account of themselves and for the first 40 minutes, this was quite an evenly matched game.
But as the the first half was coming to a close, Parkgate started to take control and once Luke Fletcher had smashed the ball home from the edge of the box to put them in front on 41 minutes, it was always going to be a struggle for the Central Midlands North side to get back in it, against a formidable looking NCEL Premier Division side.
But Ollerton continued to give it their all and it wasn't until the 73rd minute that Josh Hemmingway consolidated the South Yorkshire side's lead.
He crashed the ball into the net with such ferocity, that Shaun Taylor in the Ollerton goal was probably fortunate that he didn't get near it.
And credit where it's due at this point, Taylor played very well tonight.
With 7 minutes remaining, Curtis Wood swung a right wing corner into the mix and Will Senior arrived in the box at just the right time to meet it and power home a header from 12 yards out.
Parkgate were obviously a much stronger side than Ollerton, and they overcame their North Notts opponents with three very well taken goals tonight.
Parkgate now face the winner of tomorrow night's game between Borrowash Victoria and Pinxton in next Wednesday night's semi final.
"And the next time you want to dispute a decision, think on!"
Footnote:
Added Thursday 5th July 2012
I was all set to go to the Borrowash v. Pinxton game tonight, but I had a problem with my 'Blow Up Doll'.
She's not an inflatable creation, nor made out of fully washable latex, you understand. I call her that because of her propensity to blow household appliances up.
This evening she had a kitchen disaster and I am currently left without any means to cook food.
D'oh!
But nobody was hurt, so that's the main thing.
However by the time I'd dealt with the aftermath of her latest calamity, it was too late for me to get to Tevie in time for the game.
In the event, Borrowash Victoria won 5-0 and Teversal have arranged to switch the consolation games around with the other teams involved, so they won't be playing against themselves next week.
