Frickley Athletic 1 v KInsley Boys 0 - Northern Under 19 Alliance

Monday 12the September 2011, at Tech 5 Stadium,
Westfield Lane, South Elmsall
Northern Under 19 Alliance, Central Division
Frickley Athletic (1) 1 (Jack Portman 34)
Kinsley Boys (0) 0
Admission £2, Programme 50p, Attendance 72
A well contested game, played in very windy conditions, that was as close as the final score suggests.
By heck, was I grateful for the relative warmth and comfort one can find at the back of the main stand tonight.
The only goal of the game came when Kinsley's first half centre back Brookes, made a hash of a clearance and put the ball right into the path of Frickley's Jack Portman ... the keeper was off his line and the goal was at Portman's mercy ... he's no Rob Earnshaw and wasn't going to miss an open target from than range.
Apart from his one costly error, Brookes never put a foot wrong for the rest of the game and he led the Kinsley attack with great effect in the second half.
After having long spells of possession in the final third during the second half, the visitors are entitled to feel unlucky that they never got at least a draw tonight ... such is life.

Know what? I reckon I will be back at this ground tomorrow night for the Evo-Stil Premier League encounter between Frickley Athletic's first team and Stocksbridge Park Steels. Wrap up warm if you are joining us.
