The Stags were cruising when they went in at the interval 2-0 ahead and on 54 minutes they were awarded a penalty when Adam Murray was felled in the box and it all looked over for Southport.
However, Paul Connor didn't strike the spot kick particularly well and Tony McMillan saved it with some ease.

This was the turning point of the game and in the end Mansfield held out for a draw, when it had looked for all the world as if they were going to give Southport a proper good hiding at one stage.
Maybe some of the Mansfield players concentration wasn't all it should have been because their minds were elsewhere ...
